Public assistance

Date of Release: June 25th, 2007

Reference: Recovered stolen items

The Portsmouth Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying personal items that have been recovered.  These items were previously stolen during the months of April and May from unlocked vehicles throughout the city, but predominantly in the following neighborhoods and commercial areas:

Union Street, Cabot Street, Rockland Street, Highland Street, Middle Road, Islington Street, Peverly Hill Road, Gosling Road, Corporate Drive, Grafton Drive, International Drive, and the Route One By-Pass.

We believe that some thefts were never reported to the Portsmouth Police Department, due in part to owners not realizing the items were stolen. This serves as another reminder to the public to always lock vehicles, even when parked in your own driveway or garage, and even if left unattended at a store for a short period of time.

Anyone who is missing an item from their vehicle is asked to call Detective Thomas Hart of the Bureau of Investigative Services at 610-7472.

To report any crime and remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 431-1199 or
