Reference: Bomb Scare

     

On Saturday October 13 at 10:00pm, the Portsmouth Police Department responded to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital for a report of suspicious item that resembled a bomb.  The device was located on the exterior of the building near the emergency room.  Members of the patrol division secured the area and requested assistance from the NH State Police Bomb Squad.  The NH State Police Bomb Squad evaluated the device and subsequently rendered it safe.  The device contained a suspicious substance, which was tested by the Portsmouth Fire Department and the Seacoast Technical Assistance Response Team, a regional hazardous materials team.  The substance was deemed not to be harmful.  At no point during the incident was the hospital evacuated and members of hospital management were on scene providing assistance during the call.
